THE SOUR LEMON @ DCON 2016

We are super excited to announce that Henry and The Sour Lemon will be selling some DHP goodies at DCON (designercon) this year. More info and updates to follow in this very post so stay tuned.

HARDCORE LIVES!

It’s so awesome that some of the best parts of going to hxc shows and being in a band when I was younger have carried forward into new experiences and interests as an adult. The hxc, punk and metal scene of my youth was full of that DIY and teamwork spirit that made going to a show much more than just showing up and watching someone perform. Bands helped bands book shows, people shared information on where to print merch, a zine, records or cds and people bought each others stuff to become more informed and keep the community alive.

That same spirit has returned to me now as I have the great pleasure with working with a great new friend in making my own sofubi. There was a time when it looked like I was going to have to stop making toys in Japan because of a serious breakdown in communication and the process but some awesome friends stepped up and opened new doors and lines of communication to make working with HS possible. Even though there is a bit of a barrier in communication because of language at times, the hxc spirit lives and our shared passion for these toys makes it work. HARDCORE LIVES! Arigato Hirota!

EU EXCURSION

I recently went over to Europe for a split business/pleasure trip. It started off with a shoot for the next NINJAGO tv commercial (I am currently working on that line at LEGO - my day job) and transitioned to a trip to Paris with my awesome/beautiful new wife on our honeymoon. To follow is a few shots of some of the adventures that took place with the toys that hopped in my suitcase.

Ever wonder what the set of a LEGO commercial looks like...well you are going to have to keep wondering as I can't share pics yet since the product won't be out until 2017 :(

Had some awesome coffee while in Aarhus this time around on the recommendation from the lead model designer on the NINJAGO project. If you are ever there go check them out:

On the way to dinner one night in Aarhus did a small impromptu photoshoot with some NINJAGO minifigures and a WU-CRU sticker. Google it if you need more info :)

We then hit Paris for fun and adventure. We did a lot of traditional tourist stuff but also went off the beaten path a bit. Here are a few tourist shots that include Notre Dame, the Catacombs and more.

And of course we hit Disneyland Paris.

IF YOU CAN'T BEAT 'EM...JOIN 'EM!

After much thought we have come to the decision...if you can't beat 'em...join 'em! In an effort to make a customizable version of the Alavaka Bodhisattva sculpt we have put in an order for an huge run of blank white pieces. This will hopefully stop the stripping of painted editions and widen the possibilities for those people so inclined to customize toys. This unpainted white version will include both heads (the Bodhisattva head has never been released in white before) and will be priced much cheaper than a standard release. More info in this thread as it becomes available. The image below has been photoshoped for promo purposes only.

SDCC ALAVAKA

We got a last minute package from Japan. Look for a certain someone at SDCC 2016. Keep checking this thread for updates.

What...what?! Checkit out! We are super happy to announce that our friends at Super 7 will be selling an SDCC exclusive Bodhisattva Alavaka at booth 4945. This amazing 3 color  marbled set was painstakingly poured with yellow, green and blue vinyl and will be $80. It includes both the standard and converted head along with the body. These were a limited run so grab one if you can!
